About Me

me

I'm a seven-year veteran of the Weight Watchers. In my illustrious career as a paying WW-member, I've banked points for the weekends, dipped into my Flex points and eaten from the Core list. I've reached goal — twice — and regained and now all of it and then some back.

I've learned a lot through the years...mainly that diets don't work. Not that I'm not saying Weight Watchers doesn't work. It does. But it has to become a lifestyle, and that's easier said than done. And no matter what anybody will tell you, maintaining is harder than losing.

My philosophy is fresh is better. Eat real food. Snack on good-for-you items with a mix of complex carbs, healthy fat and protein. Skip the 100-calorie packs, light bread, fat free cheese and other so-called "healthy" foods with ingredient lists 100 items long. Eat foods with ingredients you can pronounce, and enjoy what you're eating.

Because life's too short not to.

I like your blog! It's funny that WW sells all those processed snacks but encourages its members to eat off the Core food list, huh?

I was on the WW message boards and came across your website at the bottom of a message you posted. I am excited--I found a kindred sister! I too am on WW and my goal is to reach goal (and beyond!) eating real food. I am dismayed by the number of meals that I see in meetings that include FF mayo and FF coolwhip, FF sour cream (if cream is fat-free, then what is it exactly???), FF sour cream, ad infinitum. Now that I have found your blog, I will definitely follw it regularly. On the WW boards, I am Callie302 (well, I will be on the boards soon. Right now, I am a lurker). Give me a shout if you see me there! Keep up the great work with the blog--you have supporters out here!

I love your blog's tagline and your attitude. Small amount of real food is SO much more satisfying than large amounts of the fat-free or light substitute. It took me a very long time to learn that since I grew up with a mom who won't eat anything that isn't low fat!

If you can believe it, I never even had real butter until recently. And omg it is heavenly.. A small spread of that makes me so much happier than fat free margarine ever could. :)

but what if you DO like fat free cheese? i've been eating that and diet soda so long, i don't even care to remember what real food tastes like. not to disagree...

I just found your blog through a comment you left of healthytippingpoint.com. I have to say I love your point of view on food and life. Life is to short to eat the fake stuff! I love whole real foods and there is no way being on "diet" food would ever satisfy me. Kudos for your outlook on life and keep it up! :)

Hi! I just wanted to say I love your blog. Your pictures are goregous & all your food looks like stuff my boyfriend and I would love to make and eat. Delicious but realistic for people who work full time jobs. Thanks for writing!

As a lifetime member and receptionist for weight watchers, I agree with everything you said. I have gained back 10 pounds and have been trying to eat more "real" foods. I look forward to reading your blog!
